Chopping Silage Sorghum with a John Deere 7780 ProDrive
This crop of silage sorghum was double cropped following the 2014 corn silage harvest in July. The silage sorghum is harvested in November to be used as a feed supplement for dry cows.
Silage sorghum is harvested after frost has killed the plant. Even though the plant looks dry like grain corn it is filled with juice and is thick like sugar cane. As you can see in the video the crop is dense and wet which makes slows up the chopping process.
